Summary

Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapy in the UK - MoU2

Full Story

The British Association of Dramatherapists became a signatory of this Memorandum in the Summer of 2019 and is therefore in support of its main purpose: to protect the public through the unequivocal commitment to oppose, condemn, and end practices of so-called conversion therapy in the UK.

Practices of so-called conversion therapy pertaining to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression are unethical and harmful.

The British Association of Dramatherapists commits to the ethical implementation of measures that will enable practitioners to:

  • Access and receive adequate knowledge that promotes understanding of the broad spectrum of sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, at every stage of their professional development
  • Challenge any agenda which favours one sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression as preferable over other gender and sexual diversities

As a professional association, we look to support and encourage our clinicians in their continuous learning and professional development in line with the Memorandum.
